Platinum-selling country music superstar Blake Shelton added to list of honorees for 2017 Oklahoma Creativity Ambassadors Gala

Oklahoma City — Creative Oklahoma is pleased to announce that country music superstar Blake Shelton will attend the 2017 Oklahoma Creativity Ambassadors Gala to be honored as one of this year’s Ambassadors at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City on Monday, April 3.

A native of Ada, Shelton has made country music history with his string of consecutive #1 singles. A 5 time consecutive CMA Male Vocalist of the Year winner, he recently became the first country artist to ever win the all genre Favorite Album category at the People’s Choice Awards. As an original coach of the three time Emmy Awarding winning show The Voice, Shelton’s team has won a record 5 seasons.

“We are excited that Mr. Shelton is taking time out of his busy schedule – from tour dates to to his work on The Voice – to be honored and to celebrate with us. We invite the public to join us as we recognize our state’s newest Creativity Ambassadors,” said Susan McCalmont, President of Creative Oklahoma.

Creative Oklahoma is a non-profit organization advancing the state’s economy through development, promotion and celebration of Oklahoma’s creativity and innovation in education, commerce and culture. The annual gala honors the work and contributions of individuals who are among the state’s most creative leaders. Governor Mary Fallin will recognize honorees with the designation of Oklahoma Creativity Ambassador.

In addition to Blake Shelton, 2017 Ambassadors to be honored on April 3rd are Gary Batton, Chief of the Choctaw Nation; Rick Bayless, chef, restaurateur & author; Chris Harrison, television host – The Bachelor; Robert Hefner III, petroleum geologist, author & philanthropist; Harvey Pratt, forensic artist; Sam Presti, general manager of the NBA Thunder; and, Annie Funke, Broadway & television actress.

Ambassadors recognized in previous years include Toby Keith, Leona Mitchell, Bart Conner, John Herrington and Hanson.
